In future please leave that task to the professionals. Thank you. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Response #1: "No, this word is strange to my eyes … what is this _sarcasm_ you speak of?" The same rules that apply to your kids should apply to his.  And I would monitor their activities closely – since they normally have no supervision. If they don’t like it, they can wait til they go home to get online. >Should I monitor SD14 and SD11’s emails the same way I do MD16?

I think that particular woman’s attitude is totally wrong.  She’s blaming the internet for her own lack of taking responsibility for her own children. My opinion comes from working online in the chats and on Usenet.  I let the kids have privacy with their emails, but only up to a point. I download their email for them and filter out all the spams so their not reading the XXX spams and coming to me with questions about them. It was bad enough when I was killing spam accts.  I’ve no desire to explain pedophilia or beastiality to the kids at this point in time. <shudder>   There’s a lot of bad stuff out there, but if parents would talk to their kids about it ***WITHOUT***  *scare* *tactics* (can you tell I absolutely abhor that method of dealing with things?)  and make sure the kids know how to handle it, you don’t have to worry so much. To me, it’s like teaching kids not to talk to strangers and not to get into cars with strangers.  It’s not a good thing to scare them by telling them horror stories about people who’ve been hurt that way. All that’s necessary is to tell them that it’s possible to be hurt that way, without going into gory detail.  Same thing with the net, just a different venue of access. Kitten

Having 4 children as I do, I can attest to the fact that it is damn hard to monitor *everything* that they do on-line.  I have all of their passwords, and I spot-check their e-mail, but it is too difficult to keep up with all of it.  My expectation (and I have told this to them) is that they will not write or communicate anything or with anyone that they would not want me to read.  Furthermore, their PC is in the middle of the familyroom, and they are not allowed on-line when I am not home. With that said, I also talk to my children constantly about predators on-line.  They do not want to believe it, but I talk to them about it because I want them to know and to be concerned about possible predators. Recently, because I spot check their e-mail, I discovered that 2 adult men were harassing my 12 year old at her early band busstop where she would stand alone.  She e-mailed a friend that she was having nightmares about, "…the old perverts at the busstop."  She was embarrassed when I asked her about it, and we had to get the Sheriff’s dept involved, but by the end, she realized just how serious it was (it was a hellish time for me as I kept having my own nightmares about her being plucked from her busstop…..). When SD said that she wanted an e-mail account here, I told her that she had to follow the same rules — including expecting that I will spot check her mail, also.  I think that it is only fair that she follow the same expectations, and as long as she knows this upfront, she can make her own decisions about whether or not she writes and receives mail for review. (Obviously, if she’s communicating with her mother, I wouldn’t read it.  I’m looking for mail from other people.) — Didi Mother of 4, Step-mother of 1 "Children, perfection, and sanity.  You can only have 2 out of 3." Last night, YD was a bit miffed when she asked if she could check her email and I said I’d check it for her.  She puffed up and said, "It’s *my* email!  And *my* privacy!" Me: "Who’s computer is it?" YD:  <pout>  "Yours." Me:  "Who’s mail server is it?" YD:  <bigger pout>  "Dad’s." Chewy:  "You don’t *have* to have email, you know." YD:  <dragging lip across the floor all the way to her room> Soooooo… to what brought this to mind today. I put the boys on a couple of homeschoolers’ e-lists.  They’re both totally moderated and secure – yahoo elists with fellow homeschooling moms as the moderators, kids only able to get on the list by their mothers’ requests.   We use this as a tool to help the boys with the spelling, sentences structure, writing, etiquette, etc. (And it’s working wonders for OS, BTW.)  I was sitting with OS as he was going through his email this morning and helped him answer an email about some computer games.   The OP asked if anyone on the group has certain "shoot’em-up" games. OS’s response was that we don’t let them play "shoot’em-up" games. (We’re opposed to anything with gratuitous violence.  However, we let them have things like Caesar because they can learn a few things from it.)  OS then asked if the OPer has DOOM! and told the kid that he’s got DOOM! but we don’t let him play it. I was expecting something back on that.  The OPer didn’t disappoint me.  He came back with, "U should telle ya parents about witch craft cause the bible was change a long time ago by the christians just to gett power," and something about being a "trainee witch." hmm… Methinks the boys are going to be getting some lessons in how to deal with people who have differing philosophies who get insulting about the differences.  lol It’ll be good for them. I’m not sure if you caught the story about the 13YO girl in Pittsburgh who was apparently communicating over the internet with a 38YO self-proclaimed "slavemaster" for a while before giving him directions to her house and walking right out the front door and in to the car with him.  It ended well, with the FBI finding her a couple days later (tied up in his basement, apparently) and she was returned safely to her parents.  The mother’s comment, reported in several news stories, was something to the effect of: "This is an important lesson to everyone.  You just can’t trust the internet." I can not BELIEVE that’s the lesson the woman is taking away from all of this.  You can’t trust the *internet*?  This woman clearly had no idea what was going on with her own kid, and evidently that’s the INTERNET’s fault. <scream!> I’m glad the child is safe and perhaps this is another example of me having great advice about raising kids when I don’t have any, but it seems to me like a little responsibility on the parents’ part is in order here.  You seem to keep a close eye on your kids’ computer use; what do you think? audra

Ok. I have to ask some questions here. I have a dilemma similar to this with my SD’s. At least with SD14. While they are at home BM pretty much gives them free reign of the internet. About the only limitation that I am aware of that she gives them is a time limit. I don’t know the extent of monitoring, if any, that she does. I do know that she will let them stay up and surf after she goes to bed. As was evidenced last Friday night. I know you all are going to say that I have no control over what she does. True and I’m not even making an issue of what she chooses to do. BUT…..the dilemma we have is when the girls come here they expect the same privileges. Sorry but I don’t go for that. I still monitor MD16’s email. Now here come the questions. Should I monitor SD14 and SD11’s emails the same way I do MD16? Or should I leave them alone and let them have "their privacy" because that is what they are accustomed to? SD14 gets really upset that I don’t allow her to have free use of the internet the way BM does. How do you all suggest handling it? I don’t allow the girls to get into chat rooms. Occasionally I will let them IM with friends but they get sneaky with that sometimes too. At least SD14 does. When I do let them IM their friends I very frequently stop by to see what they are talking about and have even been know to just sit down with them. MD16 doesn’t really care because she always tells me what she and her friends talk about anyway and she says if I just go ahead and sit with her or stop by occasionally and read what they type that it saves her from repeating it to me later. She and I have a terrific relationship and she keeps VERY FEW secrets from me. So what do you all suggest? DH and I tend to disagree somewhat about this. He doesn’t really see the dangers of turning them loose on the internet since that is what BM does with them. He sees it at "well it’s what they’ve been doing all this time so why should we stop it?" Call me overprotective but I could not handle it if something happened to one of the kids because of the internet we didn’t monitor their usage. Especially since I realize the dangers and can monitor their activities. I have talked to DH at length about this and he’s beginning to see my point of view, especially now that we are in New York. The problem with him is that he isn’t much of an internet person. About the extent of his internet use is to check email, and look for information if he needs to know something. He doesn’t use the chat rooms, newsgroups or any of that stuff. So he isn’t really aware of how easy it is to get drawn into something. It’s MY computer so I feel that I have as much responsibility in the matter as DH does. Mika

"The Dread Pirate Roberts (with FEZZIG and PRINCESS BUTTERCUP~!)" hello i am a christian mother with two children. i raised them to love jesus our christ and savior with unending conviction and to live in the values and teachings he gave us. my children are quite the normal youngsters lol and so like their peers they wish to go and view the  harry potter movie. but i am very wary because i have heard from the local  priest that this movie preaces anti-christian messages and also broadcasts the message of beezlebub most unholy lucifer satan.  what exactly in this  movie is satanic, if anything, so i can prepare my children for it properly before viewing? If you want to "prepare" your kids for anything, you might want to consider teaching them about the concepts of personal responsibility and critical thought, rather than giving them a demonic crutch to blame all of their inappropriate behaviors on.  "No, mom, it wasn’t ME that killed the dog, it was SATAN~!" agreed. asatru and celtic stuff is cool though, shinto as well.

The problem with Asatru is it’s working primarily out of the Eddas and Sagas (all written primarily in Iceland after the spread of Christianity). Consequently the Norse religions that most of us know are corrupted, a good example is the Baldr myth.  Baldr was probably a battle god of some sort and by the time of the Eddas he was a Christ-like god of light, justice, goodness, etc.  Loki, who may not have even existed, subsequently became the ‘evil god’. It is said that Loki represents Odin’s dark side but did Odin really have what we would call a ‘dark side’ to the Vikings.  The Germanic peoples, of all the peoples of the world, seem to be one of the farthest removed from the Judeo-Christian conception of ‘good v. evil’. The same could be said of the Celts (and the Slavs as well) although they were far more susceptible to corruption via Christianity (or via Rome if you will) than the ancient Germans and Balts ever were.   Shinto is a fine religion_ for the Japanese.  It is also a noble religion; but European peoples should stay OUT of Shinto.  It’s all fine and well to learn from the ancient religions but accepting them and incorporating them into belief systems is dangerous if not foolish (especially when we’re talking about foreign religions which are often enough incompatible with the nature of the peoples converted). Total Death und Coldvoid uber alles!

I thought the original post communicated beyond just skinheads or pagans so I dementedly crossposted my otherwise well thought out reply: Does being pagan and not skinhead count? There are some days I wish I was bald… But I could probably write as much informed thoughts as your words on this subject too if I sat down and tried. Hair or no hair. I truly think Varg Vikernes got a worse rap than he should have, and I think murder should be more respected and accepted in modern society as a form of justice, in my opinion. As for church burnings, the sad part is that they were medival stave churches with irreplacable Pagan ornamentation. Other than that, it was a very entertaining media wave/trend to say the least. I guess you can’t burn a modern brick church down (and when will your average deather afford a crane with a wrecking ball). Christianity may have interfered abit with evolution, but there you go, technology seems to be on their side. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –     I have noticed alot of people that play with Pagenism.  I see alot of people studying magic, or spellcraft, or any thing of that nature because they think its "cool" or they think they can use it to mess with people.  It really is pathetic, becuase it completely disrespects all aspects of pagenism as a whole.     I also see people walking around wearing baphamets around their necks because they think its "evil" and they dress in all black and listen to bands like Dying Fetus because of shock value.  Most of these people invent their own form of Satanism to suit their shocking needs.  Many people will go and preach evil and death to the world and call it Satanism, or go around worshiping the Christian Devil or obsessing about going to hell.  Im sure Anton Levey would have a shit fit if he knew so many people were transforming his philosophy inside out and backwards.  Its not even like there is some sort of Satanic Refremation going on.  Its just ignorant low people looking for attention.     I personally don’t follow Satanism or believe in all its ideals but i do hold respect for it, nor do I believe in Asteru but i respect it.  I think Asteru has gotten a horrible name for itself from people like Varg Vikerness who jumped from Satanism to Odinism because he got tired of it, because Mayhem was dead and most of the Churches in Norway were already burned down, so he switched over because his "Norse Origins Were Calling to Him." Through the lights of flaming churches he saw the shining light of Odin. And that made Odinism look horrible because of an asshole like him who is trying to justify his pyromania and twisted head with Odin showing him the way.  Im sure most Odinists are tired of being accused of Satanism and Christian destruction because of Varg Vikerness. I have notes somewhere for a debate we had in class on "Did Christianity Liberate Women?". I never really thought about it that much until I started looking at the writings of some of these people, and at specific mentions of women in the Bible (both Old and New Testament).     From my extensive research of Christianity, it hasn’t liberated anybody from anything.  It has only cause more grief in the world.  People war over their differences in Christianity, Christians kill other people because they are not Christans.  Christanity teaches people to hate, hate people that arent Christian, or people who are gay, or people who choose to have abortions, or just people who believe in Jesus and god in a different way. Christianity has casued this world to be ignorant,  because it is "gods will" and "Jesus’ way" to believe like that.  It also teaches people to fear, and to think everything not Christian is the Devil or evil, or witch craft, in the case of Joan of Arc. Who was burned at the stake because any woman who was that powerful must be a witch. That is true, but a lot of modern occult philosophy has Christian influences. For example, the "maiden, mother, and crone" is much more simular to the Christain trinity than to any pagan conception, especially when they are veiwed as manifestations of "the Lady", rather than seperate entities like the fates and the Norns were.  That comes from so many early Europian pagen societies.  The "Goddess" The mother of everything is a woman.  And what did Christianity do to it?  Well Brigid was turned into the Cathloic Saint Brigit Saint of Milk Maids.  So to say any form of Paganism is based on Christianity completely glorifies Christians.  Early Irish Brehan law and English Chivilery teaches for men to respect Women because they are the ones that brought them to the world.  It also teaches men to protect women because they are the most valuable members of society as we know it.  Without women we will have nothing. In many early cultures from early America, to South America, to Northern Europe woman were feared by so many.  In Ireland, the woman were freared by invaders because they were more fierce than the men.  The same with South America.  In early America, the leaders of tribes went before a council of women to decided weather to war with another tribe.  The SKater

I would like to see God remove children from parents who tithe to churches that censor Scriptural references to cannibalism (such as Psalm 14:4, Psalm 27:2, Psalm 57:4, Proverbs 4:17, Proverbs 30: 14, Ezekiel 16:20,  Ezekiel 22:25, Ezekiel 34:10, Micah 3:2-3, Habakkuk 1:13, Habakkuk 3:14, Second Corinthians 11:20 and First Peter 5:8), and keep in mind that many Bible translations have removed the meaning of cannibalism from these passages so you might want to compare a few different Bibles when you look these passages up. I pray to God for Him to honor His promises of Exodus 20:5 and Hosea 4:6. You hypocrits claim that I am in the wrong to pray to God for vengence… I pray to God that He shortens some of your lives, while you hire Hindus and other psychiatrists to shorten my life and make my life a living hell. And you think yourselves holy because you supposedly pray in love while you have me repeatedly detained and lobotomized, for your priests and your churches are above criticisms and above the law. You hypocrits, you ask me to forgive what you have done to me while you are not able to talk to me without calling me insane, you continually shit on me while saying that I should be continually forgiving you. You hypocrits merge pagan sun festivals into your brand of Christianity and then have the audacity to call me an astrologer when I try to show people that God gives them their names (Ephesians 3:15). I am not using mathematics to divine futures, while you hypocrits use the placement of the moon to decide when to celebrate your pagan easter (sun rises in the east) holidays. And it is not Christ’s mass but a pagan mass celebrating the rising of the sun in the south, it is the use of God’s name in vain. I criticized the dinks on the Sunday churches and I criticized their censorship of Scriptures dealing with cannibalism, the treatment I received amounts to a death sentence, I am very ill from the treatment and from the stress of never knowing when I will be arrested and treated again. You are not only hypocrits, you people have in effect murdered me, and should learn to treat me a little bit better during my final days. There will be 7 women that will approach me before I die, and they will feel shame for what their parents and for what society did to me (Isaiah 4:1). You people owe me a little bit of respect, I am a child of God too, and I deserve better than frequent chemical lobotomies, brutal assaults, and continual threats of additional chemical lobotomies. And you God-damned filthy hypocrits speak of love!!! Tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of missing people in North America, and you leave it to Hollywood to teach of the existance of cannibals!!! You sick filthy pieces of shit!!! -Shawn Kabatoff

    – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – You know, you are one sick piece of work. You call on god to kill or allow to be killed people you don’t know and have no way of knowing. Let me give you a verse to look up sometime. See if you can even find it. I will paraphrase it. When someone does you harm, give them love. Because when you do this, you heap hot coals on their hear. Vengeance is mine says the Lord. I will repay. You claim to follow Jesus, but all I hear from you is complaining. Fine. Show me where the cannibalism is in the bible. Here is your forum for this. Show us. All of us on this group are waiting. As to the constant medical treatment, from what I hear, you need treatment. Frankly, I think you are deluded. And in many ways I feel sorry for you. But I am sick of reading your bigotry, hatred and lack of reason. You seem to reject the new testament teachings about forgiveness, and the scripture which shows that new testament christians met on "the first day of the week, as was their custom" you reject anything that does not fit into you own sick interpretation of what you want the bible to say. You blame everyone in the world for what has happened to you. You have demanded money from strangers for a home, and restitution for past actions against you. While I agree with you that it is only in the last few years that priests have started to be punished for molestation of children, you seem to only care about that as a way to demonstrate how perfect you are. What about talking about those innocent children, some of the very same ones you are asking god to kill. People like you make me sick. ANd I know this will do no good. You will respond to it the same way you have done every other message to you. With hatred, bigotry and evil in your heart. And by the way. Numerology is a form of divination. Divination is a form of witch craft. Witch craft of all forms was condemned in both the new testament and the old testament. But I guess it is all right for you to do it, huh? Response:

For years I faced psychiatric torture in a hole at the University of Saskatchewan after saying that your churches are censoring Scriptural references to cannibalism, and for saying that you people have Egyptian penises on the roofs of many of your churches. Middle class Protestants and middle class Catholics sat at appeal panel hearings and repeatedly gave permission to assorted Hindu psychiatrists and to Dr. Gene Marcoux to "treat" me. Once Dr. Marcoux said that I was religiously deluded to think that people were bowing to trees via the placement and retreival of presents at the base of the tree, because everybody does it. And Canadian taxpayers spent over $100 million dollars in supporting the pope’s visit, and people in Montreal were being arrested for daring to protest the visit. And after decades of complaints, only recently have priests across Canada started to be charged for sexually molesting children, and now they maximum sentence they receive is probation. After years of abuse at the hands of organized religion, all I get when I complain is additional verbal abuse, threats of additional arrests and "treatment", and never any expression of shame. The Canadian people have collectively spent many millions of dollars to repeatedly "treat" me, and now don’t even have the compassion to pay me at least minimum wage for the work I do on their family stats. I cry out to God again you people, and request that He terminates the lives of your children and looks away in their time of need, in accordance to Exodus 20:5 and Hosea 4:6. You are the people who are without love, shame and mercy, the only love you have is for your traditions, and you even love Sunday, Easter and Christmas (all are celebrations of the sun) more than Jesus. I feel for you.  I’m in a similar position.  Just started my son on Adderal 2 weeks ago, and waited years to go ahead and try meds. He’s 14, and has been told a kazillion times that he doesn’t take responsibility for his own learning, doesn’t do his best, doesn’t pay attention, talks incessantly in class. Doesn’t finish things, doesn’t turn in assignments, loses assignments, fails tests, etc.  He has gotten very frustrated this past year and started having rage fits with me, who kept yelling at him for being so sloppy with his school responsibilities.

Sounds very familiar! He got tested this fall for his learning abilities, and then on to being screened for ADD by his teachers and myself.  He tested out in the concern range.  He didn’t seem like the classic hyper type, just slow at his school work and attentive.

Wow! I can really relate to this. My first reaction on hearing about my son’s diagnosis was "this cant be true. He is not hyper". Had him tested twice by different experts (with one not knowing about the diagnosis of the other). Took a chunk of change to get to the bottom of it but I figured that I just had to be extra sure before embarking on any treatment. I am still plenty scared of stimulants, but after a week, I am less scared than I used to be. Doesn’t finish things, doesn’t turn in assignments, loses assignments, fails tests, etc.  He has gotten very frustrated this past year and started having rage fits with me, who kept yelling at him for being so sloppy with his school responsibilities.   Poor guy!  I had no idea that meds would help so much.  The first day he noticed a dramatic difference and began to enjoy school work.  He felt his confidence building and is now talking more about his future in positive terms.  You see, even  tho he had had this vision of going to a good college and being quite successful, I was wondering if he would pass 8th grade.  He is very artistically talented and good at performing arts, so I was trying to steer him into an alternative technical high school, where he could get a job as soon as he graduated. He got tested this fall for his learning abilities, and then on to being screened for ADD by his teachers and myself.  He tested out in the concern range.  He didn’t seem like the classic hyper type, just slow at his school work and attentive.  The only really hyper part was his talking and entertaining the class.  He has always been very popular socially and knows everybody and has more friends than anyone could possibly find time to do things with.  The phone rings constantly with people inviting him to do things.  Parents all love him too.  At home he doesn’t follow through on his chores, and has to be told one thing at a time.  He is messy, etc. but very lovable and I didn’t want his personality to change. I guess I decided to just trust the psychiatrist.  We went to him because his pediatrician said he may need to get creative with meds because Jesse had manifested some signs of tic syndrome.  You know what, the tic seems to have been caused by anxiety over not being able to perform in his school responsibilities.  The more he got called on the carpet for it, the more nervous and frustrated he got.  He said he felt like his brain would blow up when he was trying to concentrate on his school work sometimes.  The tic seems to have mostly gone away now that he is on meds.  We are very happy and the emotional relief is great for both of us. Jesse takes 10 mg. of Adderal before school, and this week that is all he has taken.  He has Ritalin to take after school as needed for homework, but he’s been getting all of his work done at lunch time, because he feels like he needs to be working when he is on the Adderal. It seems to be lasting til right before his last class, which isn’t a very essential one.   Hope our story helps encourage you.  I too was "nervous" about medicated such a positive and healthy kid, but I’m glad I did.  Sorry I didn’t do it sooner, as Jesse has been through a lot of grief because of his ADD. — Colette, http://w3.one.net/~truth http://www.agapefellowshipchurch.org – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – No he is not the "life of the party" at school. No I could swear it made a significant difference on the first day and a smaller difference on the second day. By the third day, it appeared to be back to business as usual. By the end of the week, I could conclude that it was certainly back to business as usual. We are now iterating on the 5mg/day week. Hope we can stop there! My 8 yr. old. started on .5 mg in the morning, and then moved to another .5 mg at lunch only recently.  Her neurologist felt a smaller dosage would have little discernible effect. You could try giving your son .5 in the am on a weekend morning, and see how he does.  Adderall doesn’t stay in the system very long, and you’ll know quickly if this is too much for him. The meds. don’t make everything all rosy. Kids still need the organization, the structure, the daily or weekly reports from the teachers.  Is his problem at school not paying attention or being the "life of the party"? If he’s got other problems at school (social skills, etc.) he might very well be better at home than at school. I’d give him a week at the 2.5mg and then call the MD if it’s not going well.. Your summation is mostly correct even if your facts are wrong. There was indeed a practicing witch- Tituba, a slave of Carribean descent, was teaching several village girlies whatever variation of voudon she had learned as a child. She spent a bit of time in jail, confessed, and was set "free." So yes, there was *a* witch in Salem. The irony is she is one of the few accused to escape virtually unscathed. This has *got* to take the cake.  You are blaming the Salem Witch Trials on blacks?  Bigot.

You didn’t know this?  Ignorant.  Tituba was a voodooist and did teach the girls some minor spells.  However, all of this came out after the arrest of Sarah Good(e) and others, so in no way had anything to do with the trials. ++Mortality++ Most people are stupid, trying to get in line with society; like lemmings marching to their collective death.

She spent a bit of time in jail, confessed, and was set "free." So yes, there was *a* witch in Salem. The irony is she is one of the few accused to escape virtually unscathed.

This has *got* to take the cake.  You are blaming the Salem Witch Trials on blacks?  Bigot.

    Just tryin to help, Mj

    Question:

Merry Meet SilverHawk :)     please reply by private email if you wish…. I haven’t had the time alone to piece this dream together and apply it to my life yet, but I will get there ;) you said… "Actually, though, this is an enormously interesting dream.  I’d know what it meant if it were mine, but your dream symbols are almost certainly to be different than mine." What would a dream such as mine, mean to you :) I am not asking to be smart or anything, just curious. "Vampire" I would relate to a "friend" also to my desire to learn about Wicca. (getting as much knowledge as I can) "werewolf" I would apply to a change in my life. "security Agent" would apply to that change and keeping it safe and protected (ex: Wicca, children, skeletons in the closet ;) "Halloween party" well I have one every year, not to mention its my favorite holiday.     I know there is more to this as I dig deeper, that just came off the top of my head. who knows…maybe the "Vampire" I related is my husband, and the fact that I was a "security agent" protecting and "old couple" has something to do with a secret in myself? I could go on, but I dont want to bore no one.     I could and can rant for hours over dreams. My mansion of the soul is a huge Victorian house that shows me endless corridors and rooms with more doors…. I wish some times I had some one to come to my house and share my anxieties and joys ;) another novel…oh well B*B Kim

a theory….     I have a dream pillow. it was made for me by a Wiccan woman some odd weeks ago. She made it to my specifications. Long story short I sleep well, and I feel I bring back guests from other realms, but we already hashed that out.     A friend of mine, borrowed my pillow. She said "It stole her dreams" but she slept well. Tonight I burn a white candle over the pillow to cleanse it. What are the chances, I might dream her dreams? Hummmm something to chew on. B*B Kim

on. Much less after the cleansing, I’d think.  I’d be tempted to do it without the cleansing just to see what might happen.  You could always cleanse it afterwards. B*B, Silverhawk

    Response:

The friend that I lent it to, has allot of negative energy around her. I felt that (in case) if I didn’t burn the candle and IF I was able to dream her dreams, I might attract that energy to me, and its not something I want ;) so I dreamed as usual and WOW what a weird one LOL …long story short… I was a werewolf, dating a vampire and I worked as a security agent for this old couple, I killed a man who was getting into something he should not of and he ended up trying to kill me. BUT of course I was more powerful LOL (this is funny) so that ended rather abruptly ;) and in the end I went to a Halloween party…. So go figure. does the word Therapy mean anything to me? or perhaps stop watching "Buffy"? LOL B*B Kim

Or quit role-playing in the World of Darkness game :) Actually, though, this is an enormously interesting dream.  I’d know what it meant if it were mine, but your dream symbols are almost certainly to be different than mine.  You should think about it, though.  What does "werewolf", "vampire", "security agent", and "Halloween party" mean to you, for example?  Also keep in mind that the various people in this dream are probably all symbols for yourself. You have the right idea. Don’t be afraid of it, Kim. There are so few of us. I will suggest that you not speak of this to anyone who doesn’t understand. ..unless you are a goth and they do understand. Keep your sanity and learn to control your ability to see the other world. You must first decide what is real and what is astral. Then you can program your senses to "dim" the visions into something transparent so that your normal sight isn’t impaired in any way. Doing what we do is something others need psychoactive drugs to achieve. We have the advantage over them in that we can use our consciousness to control and direct what we visualize.

Merry Meet     Ok ren, you have me intrigued… just a few nights a go this energy was shaking the bed enough to be considered mild rocking like my mother used to do when I was a child. Again, it caught me off guard and made my heart go 240 but then, feeling no real fear of it, I laid back in bed and let out a huge sigh closing my eyes and going to sleep.     After this happening, I truly feel the energy was my sister that passed away some 20 some years ago. My mother is the only one that would do that to us when we could not sleep. She would lay down in bed with us and mildly shake the bed. B*B Kim

    Response:

A little weirded out, but I am not consumed, I think its human nature to be afraid of what we dont know about….as I said, I dont feel a threat, it just catches me off guard most times, I tend to get mad at it LOL and call the "energy" my  father-in-laws name. telling it "very funny, now go away" B*B Kim

    Response:

One thing you might want to keep in mind is that when you open yourself up to the ‘other realm’ (for lack of a better term) by doing things like a Goddess protection, thing from that realm will realize that you are open to them and come to visit.  As for opening yourself to the ‘dark side of witchcraft’, when you open yourself to any aspect of it (even in simple protections) you open yourself to all of it, and like Pandora’s box, once open – hard to close.  The best thing I can say is take Silverhawks advice and do some cleansing and cast some type of protective circle around your home. Aerta – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Actually….     I always felt something was in this house…but I have never felt threatened by it… it just seems now it is making itself more known. I am just a tad freaked, only because I am afraid I might of some how invited negative energy/entities into the house.     A witch near my house told me not to worry much about it until you notice strange behavior in my house (kids/husband) then there is a problem that has to be dealt with promptly.     I haven’t really done any spell work… I light candles thats it, purple, white and blue…(scented from the store) I have a dream pillow that my witch friend made for me, and I did light a purple candle for this past full moon. Sprinkled pine needles and cones with lilac oil and burned them. I asked the Goddess for protection for my family…to be honest. maybe it was a spell, but I didn’t feel it in my heart….     So…this is why I have been wondering… I hope this is not some way to freak myself out? I mean I really dont want the "Dark side" of witch craft in my life….any suggestions would be great to put myself at ease. B*B Kim

Yes, given the idea that nothing is impossible only improbible it is hypotheticly possible to channel energy or entities doing no experimentation or anything just sitting vegatating in front of the TV now if you are working with chaneling energies/entities through experimentation it is there is a better chance but is not as likely as a mundane reason if you are not focusing on and making an effort to do so and still odds are there is a more mundane explanation. One of the basic "laws" of magick:  Power attracts power. Yes, it is not only possible, but it is probable.  I would suggest that you do a cleansing of your property, wording it to only rid your house and the area around it of unfriendly entities.  You don’t want to scare off potential allies.  To avoid any unsettling situations in the future make sure that you are properly protected when you call upon any sort of power. I have a permanent "circle" around my entire property, extending, in fact, for some yards beyond it in all directions.  It is specifically designed to keep out any unfriendly spirits, while allowing passage in both directions of any who come and go in peace and love.  It is also designed to reflect any incoming negative energy back to the origin (i.e., magickal or psychic attacks). Not to pry, Silverhawk, but that sounds like a pretty good ward.  Is it just a more advanced form of "house blessing", or did you incorporate some ceremonial magic or talisman into the casting?.  I only ask because wards and abjurations are some of my favourite topics, and I’m always on the lookout for new angles on the theme. Energy works on that instictual level.  As for entities… what’s the difference? No, Jesus was trying to tell them that WE as Christian must be good neighbors to everyone.  and He is giving us an example of what a GOOD neighbor is. You have to remember, that these men who passed by did so because they were a Priest and a Levite on their way to to preach in Jeruselem.  If they had stopped to help a man who looked DEAD and could possibly be dead then they risked making themselves unclean according to the laws of the time and thereby unable to minister until they had made themselves clean again (a seven day process).  Only the Samaritan risked this possability and thereby proved himself the good neighbor.Note the last sentence where he tells the disciples to go and do likewise.  So to we are to take the time and effort out of our busy days to help those in need. God’s Only Law: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF    The Bible states it very clearly, so there can be no possible    misunderstanding:        For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your        neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:14 RSV)    And who is your neighbor? Everyone is your neighbor. This is shown in    the Parable Of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37, shown below).    But what about love for God? Doesn’t that come first? Yes, but God    counts our love for others as if it were love for Himself. So when we    love others, we are loving Him at the same time. This is shown in the    Parable Of The Sheep And The Goats (Matthew 25:31-46, in the Appendix    below). And we cannot claim to love God until we first love our fellow    man.        If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a        liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen,        cannot love God whom he has not seen. (1 John 4:20 RSV)    But what about The Ten Commandments? Aren’t we supposed to obey them?    Yes, but The Ten Commandments are only an approximation of what God    wants from us. The Pharisees obeyed all of the Ten Commandments, yet    God was very displeased with them because they did not have love. The    exact thing God wants from us is that we should love our neighbor as    we love ourselves. Everything else depends on this.    But what about holiness? Aren’t we supposed to avoid improper sex,    etc. and be pure and chaste? Aren’t we supposed to deny our physical    selves in order to strengthen our spiritual selves? Yes, but our    feeble attempts at being holy do not even come close to God’s high    standards. To Him, they are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). But if we    have love for others, God will overlook a multitude of our sins (1    Peter 4:8). And if we forgive others of their offenses against us, He    will forgive us of our offenses against Him (Matthew 5:14-15). Love    makes everything holy, since God is love (1 John 4:8, 4:16).    So all of God’s requirements for mankind boil down to this one    command: "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you truly do    this one thing only, it is enough. It then doesn’t matter if you fall    short on some of the dozens of others. But if you do not do this, all    of the others together are not enough. This is the big one, more    important than all the others combined.        If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture,        "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.        (James 2:8 RSV)    First Corinthians 13 emphasizes the primacy of love, even over faith    itself.    1 Corinthians 13  (KJC – The King James Bible, Clarified)                  The Supreme Importance Of Love    13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have    not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.    13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all    mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I    could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.    13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I    give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.    13:4 Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not    itself, is not puffed up,    13:5 Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily    provoked, thinks no evil;    13:6 Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;    13:7 Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things,    endures all things.    13:8 Love never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall    fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be    knowledge, it shall vanish away.    13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.    13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in    part shall be done away.    13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child,    I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish    things.    13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:    now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.    13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest    of these is love.            *                *                *    Other Scriptures also tell us that love for others is the most    important thing.              "Love For Others Fulfills The Law"        Galatians 5:14 (RSV)        For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your        neighbor as yourself."        Romans 13:8 (RSV)        Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves        his neighbor has fulfilled the law.        Romans 13:9 (RSV)        The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not        kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other        commandment, are summed up in this sentence, "You shall love your        neighbor as yourself."        Romans 13:10 (RSV)        Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling        of the law.        James 2:8 (RSV)        If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture,        "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.        Proverbs 10:12 (RSV)        Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.        1 Peter 4:8 (RSV)        Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love        covers a multitude of sins.    But what about Jesus? Where does Jesus Christ fit into this picture?    If love for neighbor is sufficient, then why do we need to accept    Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour?    Jesus Christ doesn’t "fit into the picture." Jesus Christ IS the    picture, the perfect embodiment of Love.    By our own flawed human nature, it is almost impossible to love our    neighbor as we love ourselves. Maybe some few people can do it, but    most people cannot even come close. But when we accept Jesus Christ as    our Lord, His Holy Spirit enters us and dwells within us, transforming    our flawed nature into a more perfect nature, more like His own. Only    then are we able to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.                                        <<    May the Lord bless this presentation of His holy Word. God’s Only Law: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF

Let  us not forget obedience.  Love  without obedience  loses  its way. Love without discipline gives birth to obsession. Jesus said that the first and  most important law was ‘to love God’ and that we show that we love Him by obeying His commands. .. But what about love for God? Doesn’t that come first? Yes, but God accepts our love for others as if it were love for Himself.

But loving our neighbors is not all the story.  The first four of God’s Ten Commandments have nothing to  do  with loving others.   Showing our love  for God involves obedience to His commands which  includes loving our neighbors  but also obeying those  commands that have nothing to do with loving neighbors. .. But what about The Ten Commandments? Aren’t we supposed to obey them? Yes, but The Ten Commandments are only an approximation of what God wants from us. The Pharisees obeyed all of the Ten Commandments, yet God was very displeased with them because they did not have love. The exact thing God wants from us is that we should love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Everything else is subordinate to this.

No,  loving  God  is first and  showing  that  love  means  obeying His commands because loving others need not involve God at all.  So I think when you ignore or show disrespect for  God,  it does not really matter how much you may love your neighbors. —        Web: http://samuell.lex.bluegrass.net/      Email: http://samuell.lex.bluegrass.net/mailto/Christian    ObQuote: http://samuell.lex.bluegrass.net:7777/  Copyright: (c) 1999 R L Samuell, All Rights Reserved.

Deut.6:24-25 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – God’s Only Law: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF    The Bible states it very clearly, so there can be no possible    misunderstanding:        For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your        neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:14 RSV)    And who is your neighbor? Everyone is your neighbor. This is shown in    the Parable Of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37).    But what about love for God? Doesn’t that come first? Yes, but God    accepts our love for others as if it were love for Himself. So when we    love others, we are loving Him at the same time. This is shown in the    Parable Of The Sheep And The Goats (Matthew 25:31-46). So all of God’s laws boil down to this one command: "YOU SHALL LOVE    YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you truly do this one thing only, it is    enough. It doesn’t matter if you fall short on some of the others. But    if you do not do this, all of the others together are not enough. This    is the big one, more important than all the others combined.        If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture,        "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.        (James 2:8 RSV)    May the Lord bless this presentation of His holy Word.                                 <<      Bill McGinnis  <<      http://www.patriot.net/users/bmcgin/ministries.html            "Teaching The Joyful Christian Life"      http://www.patriot.net/users/bmcgin/chapel.html                  INTERNET DAILY CHAPEL

and hard to love! It goes against human nature to do this! Well, guess what: we ourselves are rotten and hard to love. Evil by nature, we cannot possibly meet God’s one and only requirement unless we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and let Him come into our hearts and transform us. Only then, with Jesus in control of us, can we truly love our neighbor as we love ourself.

I’m kind of new to this group so forgive me if i get things a little wrong as i havent read all the older posts. however you did say in your first post (of this thred) that all we have to do is love our niegbour and that is enough. i think that you have to accept Jesus as your lord and saviour as well. I see that you added that in the paragraph above. I would just like to say that when you are teaching in anyway you take on a responsability. If someone was to have read your frist post and said "oh ok then just love my niegbour and i’ll be right" and left it at that, then they may never accept Jesus, and I dont think that would be enough. Just saying that you should be more carefull and complete when you teach anything. -X

If god is such a whiz, why the hell did he make an evil person like you ? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi John,    Good to hear from you again. This is a radical doctrine, that this one commandment is the only one that is really required. Most churches teach that love for neighbor is only one of many things we need to do in order to satisfy God’s requirements. But I am teaching that this is the only real requirement, more important than all the other commandments combined. And I have the Scriptures to back me up. If you claim to believe the Bible, then you must accept this doctrine of "Radical Christian Love."    Does this mean that I am "soft on sin?" No. What it means is that the only sin that really matters to God is if we fail to love our neighbor as ourselves.    But how can we love our neighbor as ourselves? I couldn’t agree more.  One doesn’t need religion or God to do this.  An atheist can live a life pleasing to God just by loving people then. Loving people makes perfect sense even if there is no God and no divine judgement.  Since you have said that this is God’s only law, I don’t expect God will give me much trouble for not believing in him.  I follow the golden rule not because God says so, but simply because I realize that there is no guarantee in life that I will always have one up over everybody.  Religion is for those who want easy answers and not at all related to love or human kindness. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – God’s Only Law: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF    The Bible states it very clearly, so there can be no possible    misunderstanding:        For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love your        neighbor as yourself."
