Question:
Greetings, all. As the subject implies, I am new to this newsgroup. I am not Wiccan — if I must name my system of beliefs, I am Taoist. However, I am here for two reasons:
Welcome to the group. These things said, I have two requests. – I attempted to read the newsgroup FAQ, but found it unavailable (too old for my ISP to archive), could an appropriate person repost it please?
Well the FAQ was posted about a week ago, you might wish to talk to your ISP about short text retention. IAE you should be able to read the FAQ, link is in my sig. – Could someone point me to a few good primers (web sites and books are both quite welcome) on Wiccan belief and practice? There is so much biased information out there, I’m uncertain what sources to trust…
Witchvox.com is the most common posted answer for a good web site, URL in the FAQ —

I tried this, and got two different responses: "We archive for 3 days on most newsgroups, 3 weeks on popular ones" Ok, this sounds reasonable. When I asked about this group in particular… "Oh, we don’t archive that kind of newsgroup." *grin* I strongly suspect the people running my ISP are fundamentalists… lots of them in this area. Oh, well… for the most part they run a quality ISP. Peace be with you.

Well, that has been a concern that some ISPs would not carry a pagan group. This is the first time I heard a report of such discrimination. All alt.* groups are optional and carry what they want to. At least they do let you read the group. If you wish to seek out past posts that your ISP does not support, there is http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search that can provide fills. Bear in mind ARW is unmoderated some some of the posts (most would say many) are not on topic. Peace be with you.
And with you. —

RadiantMatrix, WELCOME! Hope you are able to learn all your heart desires on the subject, the internet is a WONDERFUL source- as long as you dont use it exclusively because there are (as i found out myself and as my mother found out when looking into paganism/wicca) a lot of ppl who state what wicca is with much subjective and personal material added in which is not always exactly correct. However, with a healthy mix of book material and internet material, i think you’ll do well
Some good Sites to look at are: www.mothersmagic.net www.spiritonline.com www.religioustolerance.org/witchra.htm www.eclecticpagans.com the messageboard at mothersmagic.net is very good, and so is their faq. I hope these will help you out. As for good literary material… i’m afraid i’m not the greatest of references on that… however there’s a million gazillion ppl here whom i ‘m sure canhelp you out in that area
Blessings! Callista Elisabeth Pendragon

Greetings, all. As the subject implies, I am new to this newsgroup. I am not Wiccan — if I must name my system of beliefs, I am Taoist. However, I am here for two reasons: 1. I am interested in the beliefs and practices of one of the world’s oldest religions. 2. My fiancee is thoroughly Wiccan – and though she has done her best to give me an understanding of what she believes, she is not the world’s greatest at explanation.
Hopefully, my time here will help me understand more of what she believes and practices. These things said, I have two requests. – I attempted to read the newsgroup FAQ, but found it unavailable (too old for my ISP to archive), could an appropriate person repost it please? – Could someone point me to a few good primers (web sites and books are both quite welcome) on Wiccan belief and practice? There is so much biased information out there, I’m uncertain what sources to trust… Thank all of you in advance. Peace be with you.
