  • Old spells and new ethics

    Question:

What good does it do to have a will of iron if one refuses to see?  The ability to be flexible and bend is far more useful and helpful for growth.  When it comes to dedication to ones beliefs, that is a personal thing, and should be kept as such. Spells are spells, and they do a job.  How you use a spell is important.  Perhaps your father was wrong to cast the spell as he did, but maybe without anyone knowing it he saved your life.  Every time I go the wrong way by accident when I am driving, I always wonder if the accidental inconvenience perhaps saved me from a tragic accident.  These are areas I with hold judgment as to right and wrong. One never knows.  As far as the sex spell being done with out a condom.  That is not a moral issue.  It is not immoral to engage in sexual activity without a condom. Never reject anything because you think your ideals are more correct.  Or as you said we nowadays have "a heightened sense of ethics".  That is not true.  We can’t even begin to say we are anymore heightened than our ancestors.  What about the wisdom of the ages? IMHO, blessings, Laura. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – RBB mentioned a sex spell a week ago, and condoms were not to be used.  This alarmed some, because it is not safe sex.  There is going to be a problem with old spells, because our heightened sense of ethics and more importantly the open discussion of motives ,that old spells are subjected to mean closer scrutiny than they were exposed to in the past. It can also be impossible to predict the long term outcome of a spell, and this alone can bring inaction where originally the spell was sought to bring about change.  For instance, my sister married and moved far way.  My father did not want this to happen again, so he grew a pin oak from an acorn, cut off my hair, cut my right palm along the life line and mingled the hair the blood and the soil and then planted the tree over it.  Consequently I have never moved far away, and when I did, I always came back.  I live 10 feet from this tree.  If this spell is to be believed:  The downside: I can’t seem to leave.  The upside:  I derive a lot of energy from the place where I come from, everything earth based is easy and lucky. Dad didn’t think twice about tieing me to the land, yet I hesitate to do the same to my children.  One wants to live in CA.   I am tempted to fix her here. I know that I could do it, but I don’t think I will because it doesn’t seem right.  Do ethics spoil the spell?  Does too much intellectualization weaken witchcraft?  What of our iron wills, one of our most precious assets? — Pip

If the goal of the spell is to have children, then what would be the point of using a condom? Maybe and maybe not.  Some people will try anything once without thinking about any consequences first. It can also be impossible to predict the long term outcome of a spell, and this alone can bring inaction where originally the spell was sought to bring about change.

Some practitioners use a divination tool to see what effect the spell will have before doing it.  Still, that can lead to inaction as well. <snip Dad didn’t think twice about tieing me to the land, yet I hesitate to do the same to my children.  One wants to live in CA.   I am tempted to fix her here. If you feel it’s wrong, then the spell might bomb in some manner.  But then better advice is that if you don’t feel it’s right to do something, then just don’t do it. — Pip
