    Question:

2 parts diesel fuel to 1.5 parts high nitrogen fertilizer. @

    Response:

    – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -in my town there is going to be an 80 foot high statue of jesus built. The statue looks like jesus standing on top of the world, holding his arms out. i found this increadably offensive! i called the kentucky courthouse, and complained about this violation of the church and state laws…the man basically said, " Too bad, live with it." So, i need help here! Does any one have any suggestions about how i should go about getting this thing stopped? It’s bad enough that there isn’t even ONE occult store in the state, and i’m sure if people knew i was a Witch, i bet they’d burn me. HELP!! love hugs and kisses melannie

My guess would be the ACLU might be interested in this; if so they will finance the fight themselves, usually.  Wouldn’t hurt to contact your local chapter.   One important point — are any taxpayer funds being used to build this, for if so then it’s DEFINITELY an illegal use.  Also, is it to be built on public or private land?  If private land and funds, you are probably S.O.L…. I live in the same area of Kentucky. And I’m also Wiccan, though only one *very* close (and open-minded) friend is aware of it. My attitude toward the statue (and that of a Christian co-worker with whom I’ve discussed it) is: "It’s their church. If they want an 80 ft statue of JC on top of the building, that’s their business. … but tacky, tacky, tacky!"   :-) Take it all in stride. This _is_ part of the Bible Belt, afterall. Part of my belief system is that I have no right to "knock" what someone else believes even if I disagree; provided, of course, that they aren’t trying to cram that belief system down *my* throat! Blessed Be! Nancy

Just curious Nancy…. and I welcome comments from others….      At what point does an exchange of ideas become "cram"?      Does "not knocking another’s religion" include denial of what     one’s own religion teaches against another?      Is their a way to espouse the teachings of ones own religion          possible without "knocking" the ideologies of others or being     seen as doing such?      Have we come to the point where disagreement is seen as an     attack?     Are we so over sensitized to negative responses that we now     automatically counter-attack, repelling rather than deflecting the     verbal assault of others? Just curious…… Chuck ITHISML Charles Miles

Eh. Get some flame retardant clothing? Or move. Seriously (why not, it doesn’t hurt long) though, is the statue on public property? IF it is, it is illegal (I hope it still is, anyway. Those closet neo-militant right-wing social-engineering "christians" have been working hard in many power-brokering backrooms the last ten years, and not for Freedom’s sake either.) Maybe you should move. Be Blessed. sia love hugs and kisses melannie
